LED 456. Inclusive Literacy Learning in the Primary Grades

This course is the second of a two-course undergraduate sequence covering the development of the reading process, methods for teaching reading in elementary classrooms, as well as assessment and intervention for students at risk for or with identified disabilities. Participants will develop an understanding of the reading process and reading disabilities. Emphasis will be on the use of effective practices for primary, secondary and tertiary instruction for children across the lifespan.  Prerequisite(s): For B.I.S.  students with a concentration in ECED: minimum grades of “C” or better in ECED 372  and LED 355 ; and Applied to Teacher Education (01 Flag). For IECE B.S.  and B.I.S.  students with a concentration in IECE: minimum grades of “C” or better in IECE 322 IECE 324  and IECE 466 . Corequisite(s): For B.I.S.  students with a concentration in ECED: ECED 442  and ECED 445 . For IECE B.S. : IECE 421 IECE 460  and IECE 462 .
