IECE 460. Instructional Practices in Numeracy Credits 3.00 PeopleSoft Course ID 012513 Grading Basis GRD
This course helps prospective early childhood teachers develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to design and implement effective, developmentally appropriate mathematics instruction for young children, birth to age eight, with and without exceptionalities. Emphasis is on appropriate mathematical content, teaching strategies and manipulative materials from a developmental perspective with special emphasis on adaptations designed to meet the needs of all children. Prerequisite(s): IECE majors or B.I.S. majors with a concentration in IECE; minimum grades of “C” or better in IECE 324 and IECE 466 . Corequisite(s): IECE 461 For IECE majors : IECE 421 , IECE 462 and LED 456 ; for B.I.S. students with a concentration in IECE: IECE 461 , IECE 462 and IECE 464 .
