HIST 467. The Roman Republic 3.00 History 467 covers the political, military, social, economic and intellectual history of the Roman Republic from the traditional date of its foundation to Octavian’s victory over M. Antonius and the establishment of the Empire. The course is a mixture of lectures and discussions of primary sources. Students will read selections from important authors such as Livy, Sallust, Caesar and Cicero in addition to scholarly monographs. History Majors must have earned credit for HIST 395 prior to enrolling in this course.
