HIST 456. The Global Economy and Nationalism 3.00 An examination of the global economy’s growth since the 14th century. The course investigates the emergence of capitalism, its relationship to modern nationalism, and the role that the concept of development has played in the contemporary organization of nation-states from the perspective of world systems/dependency theory approaches. Prerequisites: HIST 102 and HIST 395 and History major OR permission of instructor to waive HIST 395 for non-history majors.
