History Teaching Licensure

Students interested in becoming secondary social studies teachers have their choice of a 5-year dual degree program (with MAT) or a 4-year undergraduate-only program.  Either can be done with the history major, choosing the teacher education concentration, a Social Studies  (SS) minor, and either a major in secondary education (4-year program) or a minor in pre-professional secondary education (5-year program).

Students in this program must also be admitted to the College of Education . It is critical that students seeking licensure consult regularly with their education advisor, their social studies advisor, and their major advisor to support their progression through the programs.
