The professional minor in business French is intended for students who wish to consolidate and improve their knowledge of French in the areas of business and economics. The main aim of the minor is to teach students French commercial and technical vocabulary and trade customs in conjunction with practice in the art of commercial communication, including letter writing, interviews, and simultaneous interpretation in French. Students acquire a greater knowledge of French as well as a deeper understanding of the development of Francophone societies in their historical, political, and economic contexts. Students explore aspects of the agricultural, textile, fashion, and wine industries; motion picture, music and media industries; and import and export products. They are also introduced to banking and financial institutions, as well as health and education systems.

The minor comprises two linguistic components, one elective component, one culture component, and two profession-specific linguistic components.

Minimum Grades
