This is an 18-credit hour cross disciplinary program that explores the scholarship related to gender, sexuality and women. Women’s, gender and sexuality studies is concerned with gender as it intersects with multiple categories such as race/ethnicity, sexuality, economic class and age. This concern is framed by recognition of increased globalization and technological growth impacting social institutions and gendered identities. Students in women’s, gender and sexuality studies will develop academic frameworks for understanding gender, diversity and social justice; they will acquire knowledge and skills that prepare them for careers in advocacy and communications. This minor includes one of the following required courses, WGSS 200 or SOCI 337 / WGSS 337 . Students may double count a maximum of nine credit hours toward both a major and this minor. Students may count only six credit hours below the 300-level.
