The K-12 program requires two student teaching experiences (i.e., at upper and lower grade levels) across multiple areas of disability. For candidates who have completed other licensure programs, one student teaching experience may be sufficient.

Minimum Requirements
Other courses may be determined by the individual needs of the candidate and approved by the adviser.
Teaching Methods Courses: 21 Credit Hours
Students must take EXED 615 at three credits, for a total of three credits.
Nature and Issues Courses: 3 Credit Hours
Professional Studies Courses: 6 Credit Hours
Field Experience/Internship Courses: 6 Credit Hours
Students must take EXED 610 at three credits, for a total of three credits.
Student Teaching Courses: 4-8 Credit Hours
Students without a teaching license must take EXED 650 at four credits, for a total of eight credits. Students that already hold teacher licensure take only four credits of EXED 650 .
Total: 40-44 Credit Hours
