ENGR 314. Materials and Intermediate Solid Mechanics Credits 4.00 PeopleSoft Course ID 012478 Grading Basis GRD
This course extends into intermediate mechanics of materials topics and additionally explores the fundamentals of materials science, materials engineering and material failure theory. Topics include process-structure-property relationships, crystalline structures, an introduction to materials processing, plane stress transformations, principal stresses, and various ductile and brittle failure theories. An included laboratory component incorporates analytical and physical evaluation of engineering material and mechanical properties. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 131 and MATH 237 ; and a minimum grade of “C-” in ENGR 212 .
