ARTH 464. Romanticism and Enlightenment 3.00 This seminar examines European art of the Romantic period, c. 1770-1830. Course themes include the representation of nature, art and the emergence of the nationstate, sensibility and the rise of historicism. In addition to visual culture, attention will be devoted to significant philosophical and literary texts from the period. Prerequisite: ARTH 205 or ARTH 206 .
