Program Description
Mathematics forms the foundation of many fields of study; students can support their studies in another major by completing a minor in Mathematics. The minor provides a solid foundation of critical thinking and mathematical concepts while also allowing for a bit of advanced abstract thinking. This collection of skills often appeals to employers and graduate schools. Students majoring in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance and Physics may be particularly interested in a minor in Mathematics because of requirements of those programs.
The mathematics minor is open to students not majoring in mathematics or statistics. Each student must obtain prior approval of all courses to be counted in the minor from the advisor, Alex Capaldi, or from the department head.
