Program Description
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Education with a concentration in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) prepares candidates to work effectively with multilingual learners across diverse educational settings in the United States and internationally. The program is designed for both licensed teachers seeking ESL endorsement and individuals pursuing careers in language education, community-based programs, or global English language teaching. For those seeking licensure, the program includes preparation aligned with state requirements for ESL endorsement.
This program is designed to be completed in three semesters. Summer courses are required.
Admission Requirements
All criteria are considered when reviewing candidates for admission to this Master of Education degree program. However, no single criterion will determine an applicant’s admission status. Criteria include:
- Transcripts of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Two professional letters of recommendation
- Professional resume
- Personal essay: 2-page written statement describing applicant's interest and/or experiences in the field of TESOL and how this program is relevant to their future professional goals and aspirations.
The program invites applicants to contact Dr. Katya Koubek, TESOL Program Advisor, or Dr. Joshua Pulos, EFEX Graduate Director, to discuss their interests and goals in earning the M.Ed. in Education with a concentration in TESOL prior to submitting their online application.

Comprehensive Examinations
In addition to required coursework, students are expected to develop a portfolio that is evaluated by the faculty and serves as the student's comprehensive examination.
