Program Description

The Master of Education degree in education with a concentration in teacher leadership is designed to provide school-related professionals with opportunities to advance their knowledge and skills in application of leadership within the classroom, school, community and beyond. Aligned with national competencies for teacher leadership, the program prepares professionals for sound problem-solving, effective communication, skillful collaboration and application of critical leadership attributes.

The program is designed to be completed in 1 year. Summer courses are required.

Goals

  1. To prepare school-related professionals with knowledge, skills and dispositions in teacher leadership aligned with national competencies.
  2. To strengthen the pipeline of educators in the Commonwealth that increases recruitment and retention.
  3. To fulfill the needs of the Commonwealth's goals to develop educators who can apply leadership strategies while remaining in teaching positions.
