The minor in classical studies introduces students to the historical, philosophical and artistic world of the ancient Mediterranean with a focus on Greece, Rome and Byzantium. Students will adopt an interdisciplinary approach to explore the history, literature, art and philosophy of these cultures. Students may also study classical reception by investigating how different cultures define themselves through and against the legacies of Greece and Rome. The requirement for the minor in classical studies is 18 credit hours. Students who take Latin or Greek may apply up to 12 credit hours to the minor. In addition to the list of courses below, students may also count relevant summer study abroad courses of the relevant faculty and the classical studies minor co-coordinators.
