Statistics, B.S.


Bachelor of Science in Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics  offers a major in statistics to meet the needs of both the public and the private sectors for graduates with degrees in statistics. The required courses provide a balance of applications and theory, which allows students to prepare for immediate employment or graduate studies by proper selection of the program electives.

Major Requirements


Requirements for a B.S. degree with a major in statistics are the following required courses and a minimum of six credit hours from the electives listed below. Students interested in pursuing graduate studies in statistics are strongly encouraged to double-major in statistics and mathematics.

MATH 220  with a grade of “B-” or better may be substituted for MATH 229  if the student received credit for MATH 220  before declaring a statistics major.
