Latino Community Engagement Minor
Return to: Programs of Study
The Latino Community Engagement minor invites Spanish-speaking students to engage with the local and regional Latinx community through a curriculum that requires community engagement and that emphasizes the immediacy of history and current events as they affect the Spanish speaking population. Students do not have to be FLLC majors in Spanish in order to elect this minor, but the majority of these courses will be taught in Spanish. Students will be able to select up to two courses in English from a diverse list of courses in topics critical to Latino and Spanish-speaking communities. Consult with the minor coordinator for assistance in evaluating skills for participation.
Required Courses: 9 Credit Hours
Upper-Level Courses: 9 Credit Hours
Choose three upper-level courses in Latino topics from this list. At least one must be taught in Spanish. No more than two courses can be double-counted with the student’s major. Upper-level courses may be substituted, subject to prior approval from the minor coordinator. |
