Liberal Studies Minor

Liberal Studies is the required content-area minor for students majoring in elementary education and is recommended for students majoring in exceptional education. The Liberal Studies minor ensures classroom teachers have appropriate subject-area knowledge to work with young students. The curriculum meets Virginia teacher competencies by providing breadth and integration across the content areas of language arts, social sciences, mathematics, natural sciences and technology.

Required General Education courses: 18 Credit Hours
When completing the General Education requirements for C4GE, C2HQC, C4AE, C3NS, C3PP, C3L and C3QR, students in the Liberal Studies Minor must complete specific courses to meet VDOE standards in content areas of History, Geography, Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Complete all four of the following courses: 12 Credit Hours
Social and Cultural Processes: The Global Experience Required Course
