SCOM 240. Introduction to Communication Theory

This course studies the theories and models that inform students’ understanding of human communication processes. Emphasis is placed on the processes of theory building, comparison of theories, and the implications and application of theory to particular contexts. Consideration is given to the role of communication in all human endeavors. This course must be taken concurrently with SCOM 240L. Prerequisite(s): Declared SCOM majors or declared SCOM minors only, and SCOM 121 , SCOM 122 or SCOM 123 , and sophomore standing or above. Corequisite(s): SCOM 240L .
