HIST 334. A Global History of Nationalism Credits 3.00 PeopleSoft Course ID 014478
This course examines the modern origins of nationalism, its historical development as a political and economic theory, and its consequences, including ethnic cleansing and genocide, in a variety of case studies in order to answer these and other questions. The course will consider questions such as: What is nationalism? Do nations create nationalism or does nationalism create nations? Why does the modern world vest sovereignty in the nation? This course is intended to fulfill requirements for the International Affairs major.
