ITAL 484. Advanced Studies in Spanish and Italian Literature

From the Renaissance to the Siglo de Oro, this course will explore the influences between Spanish and Italian literature, from the Early modern period to the Baroque. It will mainly investigate three main genres: Poetry, narrative and drama. It will include a selection of texts by prominent Italian and Spanish authors such as Petrarch, Boccaccio, Garcilaso de la Vega, Machiavelli, Cervantes, Lope de Vega. Instruction is in English. Prerequisite(s): Permission of the instructor.
