Survey of musical theatre genres, composers, lyricists, performers, directors and choreographers in America from 1750 to present. Includes practical study of the format of the libretto and musical score in relationship to the major musical theatre genres. Consideration of how music theatre developed from and reflected the cultural, social, and political landscape of its time. Prerequisite(s): Music majors with an emphasis in music theatre only or permission of the instructor.
