MSSE 371. Clinical Experience in Adolescent Education

This course provides an opportunity for students to work with adolescent learners through a 15-hour service-learning component. In addition, students will explore the needs and challenges of adolescent learners, visit a local middle or high school, explore the art of teaching, and have multiple peer teaching opportunities.  Throughout the semester, students will be prompted to reflect on their observations and teaching experiences in order to better understand the complexities inherent in teaching as well as their own personal beliefs, strengths and areas for growth. Prerequisite(s): For secondary education students: PSYC 160 ; for middle education students: EDUC 310 MIED 211  and LED 212.   Corequisite(s): For secondary education: MSSE 370  and EDUC 310 . For middle education: MSSE 370 .
