Examines the connections between knowledge of the natural world and other aspects of European societies between 1500 and 1700. Topics may include the scientific revolution (Copernicus, Galileo and Newton); medicine, anatomy, and ideas of disease; exploration, commerce and natural history; technology and empire; alchemy, astrology, and the boundaries of science; and comparisons between science in Europe and in other areas of the world.
