MUS 241. Diatonic and Chromatic Harmony

This course investigates harmony and phrase structure in common-practice works. Students will develop an awareness for common harmonic progressions and syntax and an understanding of such chromatic harmonic practices as tonicization and modulation.    Prerequisite: Successful completion of diagnostic exam or grade of “C-” or higher in MUS 141 .
