EXED 417. Communication, Language and Sensory Issues of Learners with ASD and/or on the Adapted Curriculum 3.00 This course is designed to provide an in-depth study of the current issues involved in working with learners who have been identified as having an autism spectrum disorder and/or being on the adapted curriculum. The course will review learning characteristics, current research and factors involved with causation, assessment and diagnosis, and positive behavioral supports to set the stage. The course will explore social skill development; sensory processing, motor planning and sensory integration; and communication and language development. The course will consider a range of instructional methodologies and techniques for providing instruction, support and generalization of skills in these areas. Prerequisite: EXED 342 or EXED 416 .
