SMAD 242. Introduction to Advertising and New Media 3.00 Introduce fundamentals of advertising in the new media environment. Examine how organizations use new media to engage with consumers to achieve advertising objectives. Focus on hands-on practice in the basic skills and processes needed to prepare multi-platform narratives. Students develop a clear understanding of what makes advertising effective across traditional and new media and develop professional research skills. Prerequisite: Admission to the Media Arts and Design major and Integrated Advertising and Corporate Communication concentration, or permission of instructor.
