HIST 485. Colonialism in the Greater Middle East 3.00 A comparative examination of colonialism focusing on the cultural and intellectual dimensions of colonial encounters. Lectures and readings will emphasize European strategies and techniques of rule in the Arab world (including North Africa), Iran, and India. Research and writing assignments will allow for the consideration of American involvement in Palestine-Israel, Iraq, and Afghanistan. History Majors must have earned credit for HIST 395 prior to enrolling in this course.
