At JMU, the libraries are here to support the academic and creative success of all students. We offer comfortable and safe places to learn, explore and collaborate in four locations on campus.

Carrier Library, near the Quad, features 195,000 square feet of newly renovated space. Its features include study spaces with stunning views, a media production studio, and a student kitchenette. Carrier Library also houses the Book Lab (a space for preservation, conservation, and book arts) and Distinctive Collections, home to the Libraries' rare and unique materials.

Rose Library, on East campus, provides five floors of bright, welcoming spaces for both individual and collaborative study.

Both Carrier and Rose Library offer a makerspace, café, computer lab, printers and a secure 24-hour study area.

The Music Library, located in the basement of the Music Building, primarily serves the School of Music, but its specialized resources, computer lab, printers and study spaces are open to all students.

The Educational Technology & Media Center (ETMC) in Memorial Hall primarily serves the College of Education, but its study spaces and printers are available to everyone.

We provide access to millions of resources—books, journals, music recordings, videos and other resources. We also offer a liaison librarian for each major at JMU who can help students navigate these resources to find the best sources for their topic. Students can receive support from the Libraries’ knowledgeable staff online, at a service desk, or by appointment.
