This course is an anthropological case study of Dominica, an independent postcolonial island nation in the Eastern Caribbean. The course entails extensive background study of the island's history, culture and languages, combined with hands-on ethnographic, service-learning and cross-cultural experiences during an Alternative Spring Break in Dominica. Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor.
