ANTH 324. Mindfulness and Anthropology

Mindfulness provides ways of attending to the world in its present moment in a nonjudgmental manner. Students study and practice contemporary mindfulness practices, while applying these techniques to the holistic collection, analysis and presentation of ethnographic data. The course considers recent ethnographic practice and theory in the context of mindfulness, including the anthropology of poetic expression, the senses and embodied experience. Prerequisite: ANTH 195  or permission of the instructor.
