An overview of insect ecology from an evolutionary perspective, focusing on the processes that affect the diversity, distribution, and abundance of insects in natural and managed ecosystems. The role of insects as model systems in understanding ecological and evolutionary principles is included, and current literature in the field is highlighted. Field surveys and experiments are emphasized, including general insect collection and identification. Prerequisite:  BIO 250 .
